mindless...debut album covers

1 - Go to "wikipedia." Hit "random... Read More... Read More" or click here. The first random wikipedia article you get is the name of your band. (alternatively, if the first article you hit is short, hit Random Article two more times.)
2 - Google "Random quotations"or click here. The last four or five words of the very last quote of the page is the title of your first album.
3 - Go to flickr and click on "explore the last seven days" or click here. Third picture, no matter what it is, will be your album cover.
4 - Use photoshop or Picnik.com or other photo editor to put it all together.

many many many many things

none of which require much detail:
  • today was parker's last day of preschool. holy shit. i'm about to have a gradeschooler ya'll. she's so ready all of the sudden too. (yesterday we went to a bbq at ben's house and she was wandering around (without me) talking to people, asking questions, getting her own food. i'm so proud.) wednesday her class has a graduation ceremony, complete with caps and diplomas. lots of pics to follow i'm sure.
  • yesterday's market was busy. we're crazy just trying to keep up with our supply for the four markets we're doing. we moved up to 40 hours a month in our kitchen (25 wasn't cutting it). we're experimenting with different regions of beans (our current favorite is a madagascar variety) and doing a little bit of roasting (uh-may-zing).
  • things with r have been stable and reliable. i asked him sort of last minute last week if he could take the kids to a birthday on saturday and he came through. we've tentatively scheduled a (first) overnight for a couple weeks from now. i'm glad the kids are getting to see their dad (and his parents) more.
  • d2 is moving with his mama (she's finishing her lvn --> rn program) down to san diego. we have him until next friday. and after that, we're hoping to have him for long vacations and that they'll be back in a year, as planned. ugh.

a whole new world...but with fewer racist overtones

it happened. i got the 'big' apology. r called this morning and told me he was sorry for how he's acted the past three years, how he ended things, and how he changed the course of our relationship, irreversibly. he acknowledged that it probably is too little too late but said that he hopes we can work and being better coparent, and friends. i think my jaw hit the floor. i told him that i never had expected an apology to come at all - though i knew i deserved one - and therefore it came earlier than i had hoped.

he also asked me if i thought his relationship with miss bk was worth working on. after what he's divulged to me of the situation (a lot) he must have known that my answer would be a resounding, 'um, no.' namely because of the changes i've seen in parker in the past week or so. she's proudly announced that 'i get to see my daddy more now!' he's got a chance to repair things, to change the course of things again, find someone who won't make him choose between being a good father and good partner. for the first time this all began i'm deeply hopeful (in an unattached way...or a way that doesn't feel like me giving up some control) that he will be the dad that he was, an every day dad if he wants to be. it's a weightless and happy feeling. it's what the kids deserve. i'm fucking going to believe it true. believe with me.

to market to market...

i have a problem. i can't stay away from the farmers' markets. i luuurve them. there are four of us now and the idea is that we each have to only work two markets a week. jen and i are working opposite days so that neither of us have to pay for child care. yesterday she worked and i watched her son (parker's classmate and good buddy). aaaannnnd it turned into a field trip...to the market where jen and my dad were working. ben and i braved the train with three hot and sweaty kids. when we finally made it downtown, we gorged ourselves on fresh berries and thai iced tea. i have absolutely mastered the art of the vendor trade. it's amazing what one chocolate bar can buy you. ;)

enlarge these, btw

unfathomable niceties

so blah blah chocolate, selling well, last friday's new market was fun. oh! the 100% raw bar is back on the website (the one with agave). so that's cool.

but the meat of this is that things with r have continued to improve. he's moved back in with his parents which means that the kids are going to be seeing their grandparents more (which rocks!), that they'll have their own place up there for overnights (his mom was excited about the idea), and that the money situation will be significantly better (as evidenced by on time in full child support, including medical bill reimbursement).
