pictures anyone?

notice his purple mouth? the old fashioned remedy gentian violet is what finally cleared up the thrush. he had a purple booty too, hence the icky plastic diaper...

miss p has found ways to cope with the heat!

4 years married!

it's our four year wedding anniversary today (10.5 years together)! as you might guess, we aren't going out to a big romantic dinner this year. i'll post a wedding picture when i get one scanned in later this afternoon! i love you so much r.

speaking of weddings: andy proposed to emily!!! emily is getting married next summer!!! congratulations em, can't wait to see you! (she's promised a pic of the ring...i'll post it when i get it!)

aside from that, things are pretty crazy here these days. parker seems to be feeling things very strongly. this isn't unusual for her per say, but i'm freakin' exhausted! mr. baby is growing so fast, i'm betting he's already close to 10 pounds. BUT we beat the thrush!!! thankgawd!

some don't like it *hot hot hot*

no posts over the weekend because we had no power! right now the tc is running on giant generator trucks because our pg&e transformer started to smoke and has to be replaced. it's really fun for four people to sleep in a bed when it is 90 degrees with no wind, no fan, no air conditioner. it is also really fun to try to medicate a 2.5 week old's mouth by candle light.

anyway, yesterday we escaped to santa cruz (over 30 degrees cooler) and the family spread the rest of grandpa's ashes at the beach. it was a nice peaceful day and wonderful to see everyone! the kids were pretty pooped by the afternoon...

die yeasties, die!

argh! yeast sucks. we're still battling it and it can sometimes take months to get under control. we're now wiping the yeast off mr. baby's tongue several times a day and applying the probiotic powder (made into a yucky paste). now he's got a yeastie butt rash too, poor babe. my breasts are holding out and i'm trying to make my body "inhospitable to yeast." this means bathing in vinegar baths, taking the probiotics, taking two tablespoons of apple cider vinegar at night (it buuuuurns going down!) and cutting out all sugar. that's the hardest part for me.

in other news, we saw rosanna and treesa yesterday and weighed 'renzo. he already weighs 8 pounds 6.5 ounces. he's gained more than a pound already and he has cute little baby boobies! miss p has put on 1.5 pounds since the milk came back too. that's some strong stuff!

the almost perfect baby.

so. brother has been just generally delightful and nearly perfect in every way. and then..*cue scary music* we got thrush. (thrush is a yeast infection of the mouth/breasts). in baby it translates to white patches on the tongue and gassiness. in the breasts it's supposed to be reallllly painful. thankfully, i'm not experiencing any pain, just a little pinkness. i called the ped and she recommended homeopathic borax for the next two days and probiotic powder for the next week (for 'renzo) and probiotics for me as well. so this morning we ventured to whole foods. i'll keep everyone posted on how we heal up.

the more interesting part of the story is that while at whole foods r and i discovered that some woman left her two children in the car by themselves. 1) it's freakin' hot. 2) the kids were about 3 and 9 months old 3) the younger child was bawling his eyes out and when i went to his window he reached out for me to pick him up 4) it's freakin' hot 5) how dumb do you have to be??? so, i called 911 and the police came. they were there for a while before the lady finally returned from wherever she had been. all in all the kids were alone for at least 20 minutes! then, she has the gall to argue with the officer and say she does it all the time, they're fine! the officer called two more units and there was quite a scene. that was all i saw, i don't know if they took her kids or not. bah! some people!

*argh!*

was about half way done writing my birth story and when i opened the doc this afternoon the whole thing was gone. the recover function couldn't even help me. anyway, i'll be rewriting it and posting it upon completion.

'renzo's cord finally fell off this morning and i was able to give him his first bath (with a little help from miss p). honestly, he was starting to smell a little cheesy. just like his big sister he took right to the water; he loved it. plus it's cool because that's where he was born. i still can't believe that part.
